About Page Books
Page Books was established in 1989. Since then we have participated in over 300 antiquarian book fairs across the country. For five years in the 90's we ran the Arkansas Book Fair in Little Rock.
Shortly after beginning in the book trade we made the decision to direct our focus towards customers who collect Children's Books. Specializing in Children's Books has it downside as well as its upside. On the downside is the fact that very few children's books survive their initial ownership by children in anything approaching very good condition. In addition, a large fraction of the first printing of any children's title is purchased by libraries. This is as it should be, but it results in a further shrinking of the pool collectible children's books. On the upside is the oft demonstrated fact that people who collect children's books are among the nicest people you would ever want to meet.
We try to pay continuing attention to our customer's wants and interests. At all the book fairs we attend we try to bring books earmarked for particular customers. These books are kept under the table until they can be shown to the customer. For our catalog and mail order customers we often send out quotes that include one or more attached pictures.
Hillsboro is a small town in southwestern Ohio. It's an hour east of Cincinnati and a little more than an hour southwest of Columbus. Our inventory of about 12,000 children's books is well worth a visit. Since we can only exhibit about 500 books at a fair and our catalogs average 300 entries, some very nice books are doomed to just sit on shelves in our book room. If you are contemplating a visit, first glance at out book fair schedule to see if we'll be home, then give Maggie a call to set a date.
